Founding Owner & Coach

MEET COACH AMY CLAGGETT

The Science of Speed. The Mechanics of Power. Coach Amy Claggett doesn't just teach skating-she re-engineers it. As a former NCAA Division 1 player and an Exercise Physiologist with a Master's in Biomechanics, Amy bridges the gap between elite on-ice performance and advanced sports science. She understands exactly how to unlock explosive speed, maximum stride efficiency, and elite edge control for every skater who steps onto her ice.

The Biomechanics Edge

What makes Coach Amy the premier power skating instructor in the Midwest is her scientific precision. While completing her Master's degree, she conducted specialized, pioneering research explicitly tracking the direct relationship between hamstring flexibility and stride length. She combines this scientific data with over a decade of experience as an Exercise Physiologist and certified Kinesio Taping Professional. Having spent 12 years training elite athletes to recover from injuries and regain peak performance, she knows exactly how to build explosive power while keeping players durable, fluid and injury free.

Off the Ice

When she isn't on the glass pushing players to their limits, Amy lives in Waunakee, WI, where she is a proud dedicated mother to her three children - Liam, Emry and Finn-who keep her just as active off ice as she is on it.

Whether you are a youth player fighting to make a AAA roster, a college prospect prepping for camp, or a pro looking to shave a half-second off your transitional speed, coach Amy has the competitive pedigree and scientific precision to take your game to the next level.

Proven Results: From Mites to the NHL

Since 2012, Coach Amy has been the secret weapon for skating development in Waunakee and the greater Madison, Wisconsin area. Over the last decade, she has successfully transformed the strides of thousands of players, including:

Youth & Elite Tiers:

AAA and AA standouts looking to dominate their leagues.

Junior Hockey Prospects: Developing talent for the Madison Capitols

Collegiate Athletes: Training NCAA standouts, including players from UW-Madison.

The Pros: Refining the stride efficiency and transition speed of players in the AHL, NHL and PWHL.

The Elite Pedigree

Amy's teaching is backed by a lifetime of competing at the highest levels of the sport:

NCAA Division 1: Played elite ice hockey for the University of Maine-Orono.

Team USA Pipeline: Recruited for the 1995 U.S Women's Hockey Olympic Development Training Camp

Elite Youth Tier: Competed for prestigious AAA Washington Little Capitols

The Lake Placid Years: Spent two years playing for North Country and sharpening her game by practicing directly with the mens collegiate program.

Early Technical Foundation: Forged under world-class mentorship. Her early skating mechanics were shaped by the Olympic Figure skating Weiss family at the Fairfax Ice Arena, and she was later hand-selected by Women's National Team Coach Kush Sidhu to coach elite CCM development camps.

Joey Cullison

"My hockey journey began with the Madison Patriots and later the. Madison Capitols AAA. After going to Milwaukee to play in 2020, I realized there was a hole in my game which was my skating. Many early mornings going Breakfast Club with Coach Claggett improved my skating drastically and helped my game in every aspect. I am now a more well rounded player and am playin in the NCDC for the Ogden Mustangs in Utah. I have been coaching with Amy since 2024 and have found a passion in helping kids achieve their hockey goals."
